News From the Principal's Desk

September 26, 2016

Good morning!  The year has continued to move along quickly and now we find ourselves in the last week of September.  Students continue to work hard in classes, and do great things around the school to promote LIGHT and a positive school culture.  As we have the opportunity to work with them on the characteristics of leadership, integrity, generosity, honesty, and teamwork we see students who are serious about making good choices and wanting to be part of the solution in interactions with others – that is a good thing!

Immunizations Needed

We want to remind you of the new immunization requirement for the start of the 2016-17 school year.  All students entering the 7th and 12th grades are required to be vaccinated against meningococcal (serogroups A, C, W and Y) disease. One dose of meningococcal (serogroups A, C, W and Y) vaccine is required for 7th graders, and two doses are required for incoming 12th graders unless the initial dose was given on or after the 16th birthday.

If your child has not already received the vaccine, please contact your child's doctor to schedule an appointment.  The Health Department provides the vaccine either free of charge or for a nominal fee for children without insurance or with Medicaid insurance.  You may reach the Health Department at (513) 946-7882 for additional information.

Your child may be exempted from mandatory immunization(s) if you submit a signed written statement that you decline to have your child immunized for reasons of philosophical,  religious, or moral reasons. This written statement will be kept on file as part of your child’s health record.
