For the seventh year in a row, Indian Hill, Madeira, and Mariemont High School Bands & Orchestras will present a Collaborative Concert conducted by Cincinnati Pops Conductor John Morris Russell. The three schools will perform together on April 15 from 7-9 PM at Indian Hill High School, 6865 Drake Road.
Mr. Russell will lead over 200 student musicians to present numbers including KERR Irish Legend, ROUSE Orange Blossom Special, REINECKE River of Life, ARR. NESTICO Tribute to Stephen Foster, FILLMORE Americans We, and JAMES BROWN I Got You (I Feel Good). The students have been learning the same pieces of music throughout the winter semester in their respective ensemble rehearsals, receiving coaching along the way from Pops Conductor John Morris Russell and Cincinnati Symphony Orchetra (CSO) and Pops Assistant Conductors and musicians. The concert is part of a longstanding and collaborative effort that is a key aspect of the CSO’s education and community engagement initiative.
Directors for the schools are directors Lori Adams, Don Barker, Trista Emmons, MaryBeth Khamis, Angela Pontious, Chris Rotsching & Wes Woolard.
“I’m thrilled we are continuing this collaboration for the fifth year in a row,” said Mr. Russell. “It’s a joy to see how this program has developed as well as the intense dedication of the student musicians and faculty members in rehearsing and performing together on this very special event. One of the most gratifying endeavors as Pops conductor is working in the community with music educators, developing self-discipline, creativity, teamwork and love of beauty in our students.”
