MHS Theatre Arts presents Harvey

Harvey info

Everyone wants to meet Elwood P. Dowd, played by Nathan Brunner. He is a genuine, lovable character. The only trouble is that everywhere he goes, his best friend Harvey, an invisible six-and-a-half-foot white rabbit, goes too. His social-climbing sister, Veta, played by Ali Siebert, is trying to save the family reputation by having Elwood committed to a sanitarium, but she is mistakenly admitted by the staff at Chumley’s Rest. Elwood -and Harvey- slip away, leading to hilarious chaos as everyone goes searching for this man and his invisible rabbit.

The play, Harvey, written by Mary Chase, won the 1945 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and has been charming audiences ever since. It was also made popular when it came to the screen in the 1950 film version starring James Stewart. More recently, Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory) starred in Harvey on Broadway as the lead character, Elwood P. Dowd.

From Director, Rebecca Brewer, “This play reminds us not to be quick to judge, and to take time from our busy, crazy lives to truly connect with other people and see the beauty in everyone we encounter. It encourages us to be open-minded and to not take ourselves too seriously. The icing on the cake for this classic comedy is this group of student performers and their ability to bring the characters to life and just make us laugh.”

The show will be performed in Madeira High School's Medert Auditorium November 16, 17 & 18 at 7:30 PM. For tickets please visit www.seatyourself.biz/madeira.

A special performance for Madeira’s senior citizen community will be held Wednesday, November 15 at 10 am. An optional $5 lunch may be purchased by calling 891-8222. Reservations are not required for the Senior Citizen's performance.
