GREASE is the Word

cast

Under the direction of Madeira Theatre Arts Director McKenna Flores, Grease tells the story of Chicago high schoolers, Danny (Andrew Ramos) and Sandy (Grace O’Reilly), as they navigate their feelings for each other amidst their rowdy, raucous, and sometimes racy friends. Although it was made popular by the 1978 movie adaptation, GREASE opened in a trolley barn in 1971 and was originally deemed an “anti-musical.”

On selecting the musical for its spring production, Director McKenna Flores stated, "Grease is an iconic and memorable show that addresses high school themes that are still relevant today. The internal conflict between being yourself and wanting to belong is exhibited through catchy dance numbers, but also adds depth and meaning to the characters in this show.”

Of the 71 Madeira High School students in the cast and crew Flores noted, “The technical needs of this production have positively challenged the program. The lighting, set design, stage movement, and props in this show have allowed us to showcase not only our performers but our beautiful, renovated Medert Auditorium."

GREASE will be performed on April 20, 21 at 7 pm and April 22 at 2 pm and 7 pm. Tickets are available online at GREASE is the Word or by scanning the QR code on the home page. The cost for adults is $12.00, and $10.00 for students. All performances will be in Madeira High School’s  Medert Auditorium
