The Madeira High School (MHS) Varsity cheerleaders made school history when they were the first cheer squad to qualify for the state competition.

The cheer team usually only participates at the CHL competition, but Coach Abby Horwitz wanted to make sure they got to more this year. The MHS squad competed a total of five times, placing first at the CHL meet and first at Districts. They moved on to take the title of OASSA Regional Qualifiers which made them eligible for the state tournament, where they placed 8th.

“This team came off of a challenging year last year, but never stopped working hard and it truly paid off,” stated Coach Horwitz. “This was a special group of athletes that has made a positive impact on our Madeira Cheer Program.“

2026 MHS Varsity Cheerleaders are Marissa Jordan, Annalyse Shields, Brooke Burnet, Scarlett Shonk, Madelyn Sams, Leah Munch, Georgia Raines, Peyton Mercer, Izzy Oyler, Piper Barton, Avery Brock, Aubrey Costigan, Marissa Sams, Hollyn Egan, Leslye Moreno Penaloza, and Isabella Davenport.
