I Make a Difference Award

I Make a Difference Award
Diane Nichols

At its May 18 meeting, the Madeira Schools Board of Education recognized four individuals with the “I Make a Difference Award” for going above and beyond in service to our school community. Scarlet & Gray owner Mark Cappell was recognized for our nearly 32 year partnership and dedication to serving our schools. Mark leads by example clearing sidewalks in the winter and coordinating cleaning services in great detail with a can-do mentality. They also gave the award to Julia Hess - an amazing person with a servant's heart as she cleans at MMS. Julia has also been known to leave encouraging handwritten sticky notes on teacher's desk. The final two "I Make a Difference Award" winners were Megan Lowe and Jen Bracken who worked together with a host of others to organize our first ever Madeira Unified Track Invitational - an opportunity that brings students with and without disabilities together around a fun season of track & field events.

Nominations can be made year round at I Make a Difference Awards.
