Madeira High School announces the hiring of Jim Schwaller as the first Head Coach of the new Boys Volleyball program. The upcoming season will mark the inaugural year of the sport at Madeira, and Coach Schwaller brings extensive playing experience, coaching knowledge, and strong community ties to this exciting launch.

Coach Schwaller and his wife, Maria, have two children: Jimmy (13), a Madeira Middle School student, and Evie (9), who attends Madeira Elementary. A Cincinnati native and 1997 graduate of St. Xavier High School, Coach Schwaller moved back to the area in 2019 after spending 15 years in California. He currently serves as Director of Cloud Platform Engineering at Eaton and is in his second year as a Trustee for the Madeira Schools Foundation.

Coach Schwaller developed his passion for volleyball while living in Los Angeles, where he competed in the Westside Volleyball League and earned a trip to the 2012 USA Volleyball National Championships in Salt Lake City. After returning to Cincinnati, he continued playing both indoor and sand volleyball.

For the past five seasons, Coach Schwaller has coached at Ohio Premier Volleyball Club (OPVC), most recently leading the 13 Purple and 16 Black teams. He also coached Madeira Rec Boys Volleyball for three years. In addition to coaching, he remains active as a player on multiple indoor and sand teams.

Madeira High School looks forward to launching Boys Volleyball under Coach Schwaller’s leadership and building a program centered on development, teamwork, and school pride. Schwaller will be presented for board approval on February 24.
