Community Dialogue Sessions
"Who's Controlling Our Schools?"
April 27 and April 29, 2015
7 - 8 pm
Madeira High School
Our concern is balancing assessment and accountability so as to not take away from our core mission of teaching and learning. To that end, our school board passed two resolutions at its March 16 meeting.
The 'Resolution and Declaration of Request for a Return of Local Control' requests the Ohio Department of Education, State Board of Education, and State Representatives and Legislators be required to contact their local school districts via email, phone, or public posting to seek and receive feedback from local school districts PRIOR to voting on educational policies. The entire resolution can be read here: Resolution 44-15
The 'Resolution and Statement Regarding New State Mandated Tests' states our district desires accountability with and resolves Madeira City Schools will provide additional measures and data through an annually issued Quality Profile that provides the local community indicators of success deemed important at the local level by taxpayers paying the majority of the revenue of Madeira City Schools." The entire resolution can be found here: Resolution 45-15
We appreciate the trust you place in us to do the very best for our students and hope you will join us at one of these important dialogue sessions.

Madeira City Schools
A link for the public to submit comments about testing to the Senate Advisory Committee from Dr. John Marschhausen, Superintendent of Hilliard City School District. Dr. Marschhausen is a member of the Senate Advisory Committee on Testing and stated, "The volume and frequency of comments will matter. We need your voice to be heard by the General Assembly. Please take the time to submit a comment - your thoughts matter."
Please see the letter sent to State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Ross in regards to state mandated testing and the amount of time it takes away from what we know and love about Madeira - personalized learning and high quality instruction here.
