We're exploring the world of mathematics.
Practice math flash cards for a total of 15 minutes a week. Remember to sign the homework packet indicating that your child has practiced his or her math facts. Math flash card practice helps the facts to become automatic and will help in solving higher level math problems where multiple strategies are needed, not just the rote memorization of math facts.
For extra fun in math, play games that require strategy, thinking, problem solving, and the adding or subtracting of dice or cards. Be creative and modify games that may be too long and tedious and place the emphasis on the operation your child needs to work on. This might be quickly recognizing 6 on one dice and 5 on the other and adding them to move around the board. Let your child have fun without realizing all the math they are doing!
